we were really hoping the fight would be over with PIN codes. But here we are again.
First, here is a brief summary of the last six months. In January the board switched PDS over to a new gate system which included new hardware and new software feature. The software portion is run by a company called Cellgate. When the board first introduced this, community members pointed out that Cellgate has terrible customer reviews, only a 1.7 star review in the App Store. However, concerns were ignored and the system was adopted.
residents experienced trouble immediately. QR codes were unreliable and unrealistic leaving residents unable to receive deliveries or even let family members in. So, we asked them to activate the PIN Code option. rather than listening to concerns and suggestione the board dug in and refused. We completed an online survey, which received over 120 responses. 76% wanted a PIN code option. The board refused. We started an online petition. The board accused us of nefarious actions with our survey so to prove us wrong they conducted their own survey in May. Lo and behold, their results were almost identical to ours.
The PIN codes were activated, but only one time use codes. This brings us to present day. Residents are still unhappy with the code system. The gates are constantly have software and hardware difficulties. The board has not published meeting minutes in over a year and have not provided budget information for the gates, CELLGATE or other security measures such as the police presence which is costing us around $70,000. This is in clear violation of NC law.
The board has refused to hear anymore concerns regarding the gates and have even gone as far as using the official email service to shame residents who have expressed concerns.
Moving forward we would Ask all residents to join our Facebook page and email server list so that we can communicate easily.
