  • How it works:
    • Administrators or residents can create and share PIN codes via the CellGate app or TrueCloud Connect.
    • These PIN codes can be set up for specific entry points, timeframes, and even for one-time or recurring events.

How is the PIN code different from the old code system?

The old code system was outdated.  codes from current and former residents have been floating around for over a decade.  many residents are afraid that activating the PIN system would be the same as reverting to the old system.  This is not the case.  New codes produced with Cellgate system will have the same security features as QR codes.  Residents will be able to create virtual key codes for individuals or for one time uses.  The administrators will be able to set the frequency to which codes cycle and change, just like with the QR codes.

How is the PIN different than the QR code?

The fact is there is very little difference between the two.  In the CellGate system, PIN codes and QR codes are both virtual keys for access control, but they differ in how they are used and shared: PIN codes are numerical codes sent via text or email, while QR codes are scanned using a smartphone to grant access. thus, making PIN codes easier to share with delivery drivers or with guests who are uncomfortable with technology or who don’t have smart phones.
